Each year all Southern Baptist Church complete a form called an "annual church profile" in which they provide all the statistics for their church for the previous year. It includes a whole lot of detailed informaiton like: total reciepts, coorporative program giving, number of baptisms, average worship attendance, etc, etc. Being a student of churches, I contacted the Raleigh Baptist Association and viewed the profiles from all the churches in the Raleigh area so that I could get a feel for the churches in our city. I learned a lot of interesting stuff.
One church in particular which stood out to me was a Baptist Church outside of Raleigh called Cleveland Community Church. They baptised 171 people last year...80 of which were adults between the ages of 30-50! WOW! No other church even came close to this church in baptisms in the Raleigh area last year. The closest competetors were in the 40-60 range. Don't know much about this church...but they sure have won a lot of people to Jesus. Not sure what they are doing that is so different than the rest of us. Maybe we could learn something from them. Could be worth a trip down there sometime to check them out.
