Thanks from Delta Company, 1-30th Infantry

This past December several of you helped to pack shoe boxes with items for troops in Iraq. Once it was all taken up, we mailed about 1000 lbs. of stuff for the troops. They were so appreciative they sent us an American flag that has been flying at their base in Iraq. I have it in my office for now. Maybe one day we will have a flag pole.

Below is a letter from LT Brent McCorkle (my brother in law) who is a part of Delta Company expressing his appreciation;

Dear Wakefield baptist Church,

I just wanted to send a quick thank you all the way from Arab Jabour, Iraq. Just recently we received the HUGE boxes you prepared for my Company. We wanted to send a note and say how grateful were that each and every solider got their own shoebox of goodies during the holiday season. We had so much stuff that we were even able to give some boxes to the local children in our area. It truly is heart warming to see their little faces light up with joy when they get some gifts.

Again, our company is very thankful for your support and efforts from the church. Your thoughts and prayers play a vital role in our everyday success because you keep us happy and reminded us of how great "home" really is. One of my solders, Corporal Andy Ricket (Tennessee), went so far as to say he would like to come visit WBC sometime when we get home.

As we are approaching our final months of deployment, please continue to pray for us. It is in the final months that some solders begin to lose focus and think about home. Pray for us to remain vigilant and please pray for our leadership. On behalf of all the Dragons of Delta Company, 1-30th Infantry, please accept this flag as a token of our appreciation. This American Flag has flown here for us a Patrol Base Red and we would like to give a part of our company to you, since you have been such a big part of our deployment.

Respectfully,

1LT Brent McCorkle
